Health & Safety Trainer, Consultant and Auditor:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Trainer, Consultant, and Auditor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs, providing expert guidance, and conducting audits for clients across Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities:

  1. Training:

    • Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training programs across a wide variety of industry across NS.

    • Cover a range of topics, including but not limited to fall protection, confined space entry, forklift, JOHSC, hazard identification, and emergency response.

    • Utilize various training methodologies, such as workshops, presentations, and hands-on exercises, to ensure maximum effectiveness.

  2. Consultation:

    • Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to clients.

    • Conduct thorough assessments of workplace hazards and risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.

    • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in a wide variety of industries.

  3. Auditing:

    • Plan and execute comprehensive health and safety audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

    • Plan and execute comprehensive health and safety audits under the WCB Safety Certified standards.

    • Identify areas of improvement and recommend corrective actions to address deficiencies.

    • Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations, and corrective measures.

  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to health and safety.

    • Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing health and safety processes, policies, and procedures.

    • Lead or participate in initiatives to drive a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in health and safety performance.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate or degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.

  • Professional certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or equivalent preferred.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in health and safety training, consulting, and auditing.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OHS Act of NS and pursuant regulations, Canada Labour Code Part II, ISO 45001).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with individuals at all levels of organizations.

  • Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate training sessions and deliver complex information in an engaging, clear, and concise manner.

  • Proficient in using computer software for data analysis, report writing, and presentation purposes.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Sales background and skills are an asset.

  • Must have reliable vehicle and be willing to travel (compensation for travel is provided).

Location: This position is based at Halifax, NS but may involve travel to various sites as required.

DRIVING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR: (HRM, South Shore, and Annapolis Valley Regions)

Safety Services Nova Scotia is seeking driving school instructors in part-time and/or full-time capacities.

Qualifications:

-          License:  minimum class 5 license (no N or R allowed)

-          Taken or willing to take a 10 day Driver Instructor Course

-          Have not within 10 years before your application for an instructors license, been convicted of:

  • an offence under subsection 97(1) or Section 100, 101 or 163 of the Act, or

  • an unpardoned offence against a person or a sexual offense under the Criminal Code (Canada)

  • within 10 years before your application for an instructor license, had your driver’s license suspended, cancelled or revoked under Section 278 or subsection 282(6) or 283(6) of the Act

Other:

  • Skilled in driving and teaching others to do so

  • First Aid required

  • Criminal Check required

Motorcycle Training Instructor:

Safety Services Nova Scotia is seeking part-time, seasonal motorcycle trainers, who are passionate about motorcycle safety, riding, and comfortable speaking in front of a group of people.

Qualifications:

  • License:  you must have a current valid motorcycle license and a good driving record.  A driving abstract will be requested.

  • Motorcycle:  you must own a properly licensed motorcycle and be an active rider with a minimum of three years riding experience.

  • Gear:  Must have a complete set of proper riding gear in good condition.
